Victim Impact Panels (VIP) at Universal Alternatives are intentionally designed to touch both your mind and your heart. This is where the reality of impaired driving moves from words on a court form to real faces, real families, and real consequences.
In a guided, respectful setting, you will hear from individuals whose lives have been changed forever by drunk or drugged driving-people who have lost loved ones, survived serious injuries, or watched their futures shift in a single night. Their stories are difficult, but they are shared with one purpose: to help you truly understand the ripple effects of impaired choices.
As a behavioral health professional with deep experience in trauma and substance use, I facilitate the panel to ensure it is powerful but not shaming. You are encouraged to listen, reflect, and connect the stories you hear to your own decisions and values. Many participants describe this experience as the moment everything "clicked," when a DUI shifted from being an inconvenience to a life-altering wake-up call.
The program meets Washington court expectations for Victim Impact Panels, and you receive documentation to verify completion for your judge, attorney, or probation officer. But the benefit goes far beyond a certificate.
