Individual & Group Counseling

Individual & Group Counseling

Individual & Group Counseling at Universal Alternatives offers you two powerful ways to heal: private, one-on-one sessions to explore your story in depth, and supportive groups where you discover you are not alone.

In individual counseling, we move at your pace. We look honestly at what brought you here-substance use, legal issues, trauma, stress, or relationship strain-without judgment. Drawing on over 35 years in mental health and substance use work, I help you connect the dots between your thoughts, feelings, and choices, and then practice new ways of coping. Sessions are focused, practical, and grounded in your real life, not theory.

Group counseling adds a different kind of strength. In a carefully facilitated setting, you sit with others who are facing similar challenges. You hear how they navigate cravings, rebuild trust with family, deal with court pressure, or handle everyday triggers. Over time, the group becomes a safe place to be honest, get feedback, and celebrate progress. Many clients find that hearing "me too" from others is what finally breaks the isolation and shame that kept them stuck.

These services can stand alone or work alongside DUI classes, ADIS, Victim Impact Panels, and outpatient treatment. If you are involved with the legal system, we can coordinate with assessments and monitoring to reflect the work you are doing in counseling.

Sessions are available in-person and virtually, making it easier to stay consistent even when life is busy or transportation is limited. The goal in both individual and group work is the same: to help you understand yourself more clearly, make safer choices, and build a life that no longer revolves around crisis.
